Hello, this is Kaustubh from India, my friend invited me to share my experience during this confinement, so that you can read experiences from another part of the World.
Even before the first case of coronavirus came in India, I came to visit my uncle about 60 miles from my city. I was about to leave in 4-5 days, but then the government declared immediate lockdown, so I couldn’t go back to my city.
All the public transportation is closed and we can’t take our personal vehicles either on the highway. I’m close to my uncle (mom’s brother) and his family, so I’m glad and thankful that they have allowed to keep me with them for the entire lockdown period, which as of now is till the 3rd of May. The police is in charge of the lockdown, they are being really strict in order to save the population from getting the virus. So people can only go out to get groceries when the police announces the time when the market will be open through a megaphone on the streets.
I’m reading a book, Discovery of India these days, watching different movies and playing video games with a little bit of morning exercise on the roof in order to spend the days smoother. I’m also getting messages from people I haven’t talked to in a while, it’s good that this virus is giving us time to reconnect with everyone we know, even remotely. Hopefully the loss of human life due to the virus will stop soon, and we can all resume our lives like before, but this time while protecting the nature too!
